Better Hearing & Speech Month

PSHA sponsors a coloring, drawing and essay contest for school-age students across the commonwealth.

Pennsylvania’s students, whether seen in-person or via telepractice, submit entries to their local communication professionals, who then submit them to PSHA. There are prizes for the top entries in each category.

The BHSM contest is slogan oriented, and so we are asking that PSHA members submit ideas for the slogan. While the slogan does not have to have the same theme as Convention, we usually try to connect them somehow. Entry deadline was May 13, 2022.

The Re-Connect Effect!

1st Place
Bella Byler, Salisbury Elementary School

I feel like the re-connect effect would mean like you re-connect with a memory that you never thought was missing till something triggers it. Kind of like a puzzle piece you didn’t think was missing till you build the whole thing and you realize it’s been missing the whole time and you never knew. Like how the slightest touch of something can make you re-connect with it. That’s what I think the re-connect effect means.

2nd Place
Marleigh Selser, Holy Innocents School

To re-connect with someone means to get together again. For example, people have family reunions for family members to gather and be with other members of the family that aren’t that close. The meaning of a family reunion is to gather and talk to get closer to people. You socialize and hand out with your family. We couldn’t do this because of COVID-19, so this year, we are trying to socialize and get closer to the people we haven’t seen in a while. This is what I think the Re-Connect Effect means.
