PSHA Town Hall Meeting

The quarterly PSHA Town Hall will provide members with a legislative update regarding issues affecting current clinical practice and PSHA’s collaboration with other related professional associations in continued response to COVID-19. Attendees will also be provided with information to improve advocacy efforts across the state in continued response to COVID-19.

At the completion of this event, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify two activities that impact daily SLP practice in our state in response to COVID-19.
  • Describe two ways by which members can be directly involved in state association activities in response to COVID-19.
  • Explain how the PSHA lobby is an important member benefits to support legislative efforts in response to COVID-19

Time-Ordered Agenda:

  • 10 minutes: General Summary of COVID-19 as it relates to CSD practice.
  • 10 minutes: School based issues related to COVID-19
  • 10 minutes: Health care based issues related to COVID-19
  • 10 minutes: University issues related to COVID-19
  • 10 minutes: Legislative issues and COVID-19
  • 10 minutes: Q&A

ASHA Update: News and Forum

Craig Coleman is the Department Chairperson in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Edinboro University. He is also the current Vice President of Planning for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Craig is a former two-term President of PSHA and has received PSHA Honors and he is an ASHA Fellow.

This session will provide a brief Board of Directors update from ASHA and allow an open forum with the attendees.

At the completion of this event, attendees will be able to:

  • discuss current legislation that ASHA is working on.
  • identify concepts of the ASHA strategic plan.
  • discuss recent ASHA resolutions.
  • identify future directions of the association.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the PSHA lobbyist and PSHA executive board members. Attendees will also be provided with information to improve advocacy efforts across the state.

At the completion of this event, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe four activities from the state association that impact daily SLP practice in our state
  • Describe four ways by which members can be directly involved in state association activities
  • List 3 member benefits (“talking points”) to belonging to the state association that can be used with non-members to encourage their involvement
